Scripture: Last Supper Verses
“On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples approached Jesus and said, ‘Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?’” (Matthew 26:17).
Reflection:
The disciples knew their place—they served Jesus. They did not wait for Jesus to tell them to do a task; instead, they anticipated how they could help him. The Jewish Passover was upon them, and faithful Jews would observe the festival. Jesus and his disciples were faithful and obeyed God’s commands. Likewise, we should look to meet the needs of others as we prepare for the day of Jesus’ return.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me to anticipate the needs of others rather than my own wants and desires.
Journaling Prompt:
What is Jesus saying to me here, and what do I want to say to him?

Scripture: Last Supper Verses
“He said, ‘Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, “The teacher says, ‘My appointed time draws near; in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples.’”’ The disciples then did as Jesus had ordered and prepared the Passover” (Matthew 26:18-19).
Reflection:
How can we prepare for today’s Passover—the Mass and Holy Communion? We must fast from food and drinks, except water and medicine, for one hour before receiving the Eucharist. Are there other things from which we can fast to better prepare ourselves to receive Christ? Perhaps we could refrain from social media, arguing, and senseless chatter? Could we spend more time meditating on the importance of Christ’s sacrifice?
Prayer:
Jesus, as I sit before you in silence at Mass, please make me aware of your presence and help me to prepare my heart to receive you.
Journaling Prompt:
What is Jesus saying to me here, and what do I want to say to him?
